Speculation: The "E" in DEShive

A place to discuss deshive.com, the central hub for Dan Shive's (author of El Goonish Shive) projects. It has blogs, too! ...but no pool table :(

Speculation: The "E" in DEShive

Postby Nimelennar on Mon Mar 20, 2006 1:48 pm

We know that Dan's first name is Daniel, and that his last name is Shive. However, what does the E stand for?

Edward?
Elliot?
Evan?
Eric?
Earl?

Any other guesses?
<Nimelennar> No, it's not Nime, it's Nim.

Ok, who else knew a thread like this would poop up as soon as Dan revealed his middle innitial?

My guess is Elliot, as well. I think he said something to that effect somewhere, unless I'm mixing my memories...

I suddenly have the urge to type "Desu" in all caps multiple times until I cannot type it anymore and max out my characters per post limit... I wonder why... *shifty-eyes then flees before he's found out*

As for speculation: Eloquent was the first thing to come to mind. Also, I do not know Dan's middle name yet, but that could be it as well. D.E.S (U. *dies*) is definently better than my initials, which are quite S.A.D. Heh. Now back to rummaging about the house. Toodles.
...

I'm supposed to put something here?!!

His middle name may be Elliot, but the "E" stands for "Evil"

Indeed!

Am I the only one who noticed that typo?

Anyway I say his middle name is Eee. Like how Homer J. Simpson's middle name is Jay.

..or maybe it's Eeyore...

Oh, so it does stand for Evil. #imagines Dan getting into trouble in Highschool#

:) I'd never actually thought of it as an initial. In highschool one of my friends called himself De Wilder, as in "the wilder". So he's just The Shive in my translation.

El Goonish Shive

De Shive

If he wanted to call himself "the Shive", he'd probably just call the site elshive :P.

In what language is "de" "the"?

In French, it's "of", and as far as I know, same for Spanish. "Of Shive" could still work, but it's not "The Shive". :P
