I'm the resident Aug-master on the CS-FF server I frequent - http://www.saladbowl.tv/
Packs more of a punch than the Colt, easier to snipe than AK, and you can easily outsnipe AWP people. People complain about the recoil of the Aug, but that's because you don't go full automatic - tap the fire button, it recovers almost as fast as the AK. I've gotten so many headshots from people poking their heads from behind crates.
I've been practicing with the AK lately, but for some reason it's like when I'm using the AK, I also enable a misaimbot. =) I can be point-blank-AK-barrel-in-your-belly and STILL miss, and have the other guy kill me with 100hp left.
Better yet, rush the enemy team shouting "FOR AVALON!" with knives only. =)
Dang, now I feel like making an Avalon spray. Question is, of who?

I wonder what kind of impression we CS freaks are giving the other Avalonites?
Me, for example, I chose public service over military service when I was drafted. I have never in my life touched a combat weapon, and I am quite happy with that. Guns - any kind of guns - make me nervous in real life. Still, I am male, which means I like shooting and blowing stuff up as much as the next guy. Hooray for politically incorrect computer games
Chief_Petty_Officer_Klerk, the H&K 23 is not available in CS, but the FN M249 is. Both are chambered for the NATO 5.56 rifle cartridge. And the M249s magazine holds a whopping 100 rounds. You make 'em keep their heads down, I pick 'em off when they try to be smart, okay?
ThriKreen, with the exception of the AK and the bolt-action types, all the rifles are chambered for NATO 5.56 rifle cartridges, so hitting power ends up about the same. The differences are mainly in features - and like you, I'll pick a zooming sight over reduced recoil any day. It is possible to snipe with the AK - I have done it, and beaten a more experienced player with a Colt - but that is not what it does best.
I am a little pressed for time right now, but maybe later we could arrange an Avalon CS event. I will probably get my ass whooped, as usual . . . . but, oh, the fun!

Josh is our friend, Stig, today and tomorrow. Anybody want a piece of him, they have to go through me and Augie here (Klaus pats his trusty Steyr AUG). If you are game, I'm sure we can find a Counter-Strike server where we can settle this . . . .
Oh, and I almost forgot, there's my animalistic counterpart, the Gorilla. Not that's he's likely to agree with me on anything, but if I tell him that you have looked at him in a certain way . . . .
[This message has been edited by Klaus Petersen (edited 09-03-2001).]
[This message has been edited by Klaus Petersen (edited 09-03-2001).]

I've seen a 1400's hand cannon fired. Flash: Check. Smokescreen: Check. Piece of toast hurtled 800 foot: Check.
Similarly, the result of firing the same period cannon they had (a 1450 or so chamberloader) was bits of herring (yes, they loaded it with a herring. Any questions? ) all over the place.
As for CS: I usually use stuff like the Steyr TMP, the P90, or the AUG. Lately, I've taken to using the SIG SG551 Sniper too. Now that is one lovely weapon!

Klaus, ya, I know, but in the game it isn't the same - the Aug and Commando perform similar, but at the same time, I know the Aug does more damage per bullet.
As for Avalon LAN parties, maybe next year for AnimeNorth/CNAnime, I know a couple LAN places that charge like $2-3/hr in Toronto.
Atlas, there's a bug (?) with the SG550 sniper rifle - crouch+jump and you'll notice that the accuracy of the rifle doesn't change. Do the same with the other rifles and notice the spray radius. =)
Man, I play CS too much... =)

I have a nice ADSL line to my apartment, and there is a LAN place within walking distance.
