Hi folks.
I've been going through the archives to help refresh my memory of all the stuff that's going on. Maybe it's because I was sleep deprived during most of my surfing, but I can't figure out where exactly the idea that Joe has a thing for Helen comes from. (Maybe it's also because I really think he should jump for Ceilidh.) I mean, OK, in 9th grade or whatever it was he liked her... but what's going on now? I buy that he doesn't want to loose Ceilidh like he lost Pheobe, but I don't understand why some people seem to think that he likes Helen.
Thanks for reading and any help. I'm probably being dense, I know. Oh well.
Thanks,
-David

Well, he was still pining for her a year ago (the Valentine's day before last), and both Phoebe and Alison, who know him quite well, think that he's still persuing. Plus his response to the hug from Helene rather suggests that he does still regard her quite highly...
But we don't really know...
---

Ah, I see. Yeah, alright, all good points. I guess I didn't miss anything, per se, I was just being a little too dismissive.
Thanks,

I interpreted Joe's reaction to the hug (2:151.3) as "I need a Chiropractor." not "YES!! Helène Hugged me!".
I belive Joe when he says he is no longer after Helène and DOES want Ceilidh but is to afraid to risk their friendship to act on that attraction(2:133).
------------------

I didn't say "without complications" Joe fearing a repeat of Phoebe is just as valid a source of trouble and twistyness as a missatch, as is them actualy working out for a while and then haveing twistyness set in and cause trouble. And besides, your statement does not hold for Ryan and Deirdre, as far as we know at the moment.
