So Joe is not, in fact, happy with Ceilidh, and she doesn't know.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, because the answer will be a determining factor in my decision to keep reading this comic.
*sigh* It's bad enough having it happen to you in real life. Watching the same thing happen on a comic strip is something I don't need right now.
------------------

Ever notice Joe always has a disappointed/sarcastic look on his face? Have we ever seen Joe actually SMILE and be HAPPY?
Heh. Makes me wonder if the boy ever got laid (assuming it wasn't a horrible first time like mine was ), where would all that accumulated cynicism and sarcasm go?
------------------

IMHO, he's acting very nastily towards her - I wonder if he was the one that actually started the lesbian rumour...
---

Look! Smiling Joe! Breaks my heart just to think about it.
Joe sounds unhappy because he is unhappy, not with Ceilidh but with everything. He's been fairly pissed off about the order of things since Grade 9 and that's stayed with him for the whole comic.
[edit]Waugh! Joe is smling throughout the entirety of 1:175!
[This message has been edited by MizunoL (edited 04-21-2001).]

I hope bad experiences won't prevent you from reading such a great comic. I've had pretty crappy relationships myself, but the parallels I see in Avalon haven't prevented me from reading the comics. I'm able to relate to the characters better, and generally LIKE the characters better. I want to see how these characters handle situations I myself was in; what they do differently and how the situations turn out for them. I like these guys!
If Joe leaves Ceilidh, I'll be disappointed in him, but I'm sure as heck not going to stop reading the comic. I want to see if and how Ceilidh tries to win him back, if Joe realizes the mistake, or if they go after completely different people.
Wow, I guess I learned something in my English classes after all.
------------------

Now, now. Joe is apparently not really interested in Ceilidh--at the moment. But there's still plenty of life left in this strip, and things change. They'll change quite a bit, I should imagine.

quote:
