RPI is Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the host college campus for Genericon. The campus is built on the top of a rather steep hill, with almost everywhere being uphill from where you are. Those stairs are one of the three reasons I didn't go there for college, despite being accepted with almost full financial aid.

The building at the bottom is the hotel we were staying in. The part of campus where the con is held is a fair walk uphill from the top of the stairs.

Funny. First thing I thought of when I saw those stairs was "Salem State College!" which has a huge stairwell leading to its library that looks almost exactly like that, I swear...

Well, it's been a few years. And I know the RPI sign isn't there. But otherwise it reminded me of SSC.
