Alison and Iain: it's in the stars ...

... Battlestar Galactica, to be exact. Watched this last night on DVD:

Lt Sheba: Did you ever think about that maybe two people who snap at each other for no reason, are doing it to avoid their real feelings?
Capt. Apollo: No.
Lt Sheba: I've thought about it quite a bit.

But also:

Lt Boomer: She look like she could take us all on, with or without chains.
Leda: To have Croft and myself in the same place at the same time invites disaster.
Lt Starbuck: You don't like him?
Leda: I'm married to him, and no, I don't like him.

It's a generic storyline from eons ago - two people (of opposite sex) who hate each other will eventually fall in love. (NB: Loathe won't work, as that is going onto the next level)

"Much Ado About Nothing"
And that's Shakespeare, so it HAS to be a rip-off (but then, 'originality' is overated anyway...if hack-work produces Shakespeare, and originality produces Abstract Expressionism, I'll go with hack-work any day).

If Homer has taught us anything, it is that war is hell and romance is a whore.

it's also pretty much every episode of Cheers ... if shakespeare was alive today he could probably get a lot of work writing sitcoms.

If only we had hacks of his talent around still...he could pander to the gutter while making profound statements about the nature of humanity and the world (Hamlet, for instance. Funny ass play).
