[03-12-15 filler] Manga Alison

It would seem Alison is the sneaker type. Early morning, I guess? Grumpy as hell, anyway.
[edit]Looked at the picture again. I take that back. Thoughtful and kind of sad, I say.[/edit]

And that apron is sexy... NOT!

Hm. I know that the new manga style makes for very lanky figures. On Alison that seems sort of wrong, though. I always saw her as the "realistic" one, not quite the model type.

Hey, Josh, with all the effort you pour into getting the Avalon-Characters established in the new style, the minimum you'll have to do after 2002-08-30 is "Avalon, Reunion August 2003." ;)

The sneakers do kind of stick out, I agree. At first I was thinking "Alison Montgomery's Pro Skater," but I like the way they look here. Besides, you can't expect Alison to put forth much effort as far as shoes go... I'm kind of surprised they're not flip-flops or Velcro ties. :-)

This character has a nice unique look going for her, even if it's not what we'd normally associate with Alison.

Later...

Wow, she's really changed her hairstyle.

It could be a reply to DW's latest Alison:
<img src="http://www.itswalky.com/avalon/alison2.jpg", height=600, width=360>Image

The sneakers do suit her, though. And yeah, the stance is very much skater (she's tied her shoelaces, though), I already thought that of DW's contribution.

Gwalla wrote:Wow, She's really changed her hairstyle

Not really. The changes we see are very much in line with what differences Josh has introduced for every character in the new drawing style. Namely more and longer individual strands and slightly more variation in their orientation.

Quick coloring hack. Alison deserves more attention than I can spare right now.

Pft, and he thinks we don't find her PSL-worthy... :)

I just realized something about her right hand. Notice how she holds her index and middle finger?!
Alison! You haven't adopted Gar's vice, or have you?!

(You must admit that a cigarette would fit very well there.)

I'd say she's the last character in Avalon I would expect to pick up smoking.

anyone want to see something scary?
if you have psp (I don't know how it works in PhotoShop) go to colors->Histogram->Equalize... and something magical will appear in the background (I would just how you folks it but I don't have any webspace :-( )

"Nnnggyeeuh," to quote Herself.

I'm having a hard time getting used to the manga style, no matter who draws it. Alison looks a bit pear-shaped: her top half is small, while her feet look almost as big as those of Jeremy Duncan, star of Zits.

Perhaps it's just the way the manga style distorts the original, I don't know.

Hai-Etlik wrote:I'd say she's the last character in Avalon I would expect to pick up smoking.

I agree, precisely because Hildegarde smokes. Perhaps Josh drew her fingers crossed initially, or something. It would've been too much fun to speculate upon what she'd been looking at in that case.

What does everyone think she's looking at? I can feel a poll coming on.

MarkusN wrote:And that apron is sexy... NOT!

You speak for yourself :) I like it. It'd look better if she personalised it a bit, though.

Tenma wrote:At first I was thinking "Alison Montgomery's Pro Skater,"

Gah! Say it ain't so, Josh. Woulda thought she'd have more style than that :) If she lowers herself to play any sport it'd be softball, I reckon.

Tenma wrote:I'm kind of surprised they're not flip-flops or Velcro ties. :-)

Would be great to see her in flip-flops -- Australians wear flip-flops :P Unfortunately it wouldn't be very smart of her to wear them at work.

I think it's Pascale. I was trying to do a subtraction thing to bring up the image, but it only makes it messier.

Mail it to me (markus.niederberger-stindt@bluewin.ch) and i'll take care of the hosting.
[edit] Nevermind. Found it. Will post soon. (Showler: I agree, it's probably Pascale)[/edit]

This involved some fancy gamma tweaking. (Polarizing filtes do similar things.)

You see, Josh, nothing remains hidden...

Alison as anime is so very wrong. I renounce my love for her as she has betrayed me!

I assume the latter (not bleed, though, but shine); The grays are much too consistent for it being an erasure. (I'd have had an awfully hard time to pick out an erasure, I think.)

I'd have to disagree there. Alison has the kind of personality that just lends itself well to creating way too much self-generated stress - the kind of person that is most likely to start smoking.

I always thought of Alison as being a little... not chunky... but round in an attractive way. Not sure if the anime drawing style can support such a figure.[/quote]
