Has anyone here done Avalon Cosplay? If so, do you have pics?

Aw, did you have to bring that up? :)

I hired a green blazer and tie (every bit as ugly as the genuine article) and stuck on an Avalon logo. Can't find the pictures right now ... odd, that.

Over the years there has been a lot of chat about Forumers cosplaying Avalon at various Canadian and near-Canadian anime conventions.

I'm pretty sure at one stage a few people did do this.

U-sisters, did either of you make good a promise to do this?

Yes, really odd. Almost seems like somebody hid them on purpose :)

By the way, what in the world does that thing in your sig say? What language is that thing even in? :)

'S mock-german dating back to the days of early computing, when computers had lots of nice blinky lights. I have that on the wall just above the computer, actually.

Between the two computers, router, cable modem, and assorted other peripherals, I've got almost enough lights for my computer area to justify that sign.

Ah, the days of the PDP-8 (already modern compared to the time when that text was written):
Enter 8-bit opcode by setting eight toggle switches. Check on 8-LED display. Write into memory by pushing a button. (The program counter, wonder of modern-day electronics is advanced automatically.) Enter next 8-bit opcode...

No, I never worked on such a beast, but I got it first hand from folks who did. My first programming experience (aside from programmable calculators) was writing FORTRAN code on preprinted green forms. These then went to the punching department, where they wer punched by professionals onto cards...
Compilation-error report-analysis-recoding cycle: One week... But my biorythm program worked at the end of the course, even with pseudo-graphic output.

I see.... a ceiling. With lights and ventilation shafts. You went as a ceiling, Neil? Wow. I'm impressed - now that shows imagi- oh, wait, that's just the top portion of the picture. Ye oddkins of ye odd, that's a large picture.... *scrolls down* Mm hmm.... sehr interessant, as I believe they say in Markus' part of the world. A good costume, though also proof positive that, were "Avalon" reality, those would be rather ugly school uniforms.

I've probably mentioned before that my school uniform when I lived in the UK (for the first time) was that sort of colour (only even more hideous). Theoretically, I still have the tie somewhere (my guess is it's in a storage warehouse somewhere in north central Ohio), but we gave the blazer to the younger brother of one of my classmates - he was starting at the school the year after we moved back to the States.

I was rather hoping for a girl's uniform to see how others faired on such an endevor. I have SOME of the materials, but I would like to see other's results.

I read that and thought: "Wow, Fool's got another minion. But what the heck was the mistake I made this time..."

MARKUS YOU FOOL. :)

I could take that picture down off my webspace, but a) that would be unsporting and b) you have probably made a copy anyway.

Hm. If I remember right one of the first trans experiments was a drawing of Ryan in a dress in one of the early art threads, so there. Unfortunately I never got to see that picture, only read about it, as it was taken down by the time I got my grubby fingers on the thread.

I think it's just as well that GrassyNoel didn't dress up like that.
