Actually, in Raine's case I'd say it's compensation. Replacing an item lost...

Wow, I don't even have to add anything to that.

Because Avalon is PG-15 and they ain't allowed to chew what they all want to?

Hm, I don't really the idea of Raine using a Mac. Ryan never would, and she's supposed to be a female version of Ryan, not an Anti-Ryan.

I don't think Ryan shares your inhibitions. He ports computer games to Palm OS, remember? (Which is as WIMP/GUI as they come.)

True.

no goatee=not the true anti-Ryan

(yes, it's a Star Trek reference)

Is PG-15 an actual rating? Where I come from, anything like that would be NC-17.

I've heard of PG-13, but not PG-15. Over here it's 12A, which is the same thing.

Sure, pencils are crunchy.
But then you choke and die.

Which one?

OH, wait a sec... Drawing utensils... A Mac... That's not Raine, that's Michelle.

Feedback time. :)

The Staedtler:
Yup, that's supposed to be a Staedtler Eraser. Mostly because it was the first eraser handy when I was trying to think of kibble to scatter around the desk, and I have a small pile of 'em wandering around my workroom.
(The Josh-Sensei/Staedtler thing escaped me until it was pointed out here. :) )
...say, does anyone know why these things say 'Mars Plastic' on 'em?

The Pencil, Chewing of:
I'm just going to have to chalk this one up to coincidence.
...although I wish I'd thought to check Avalon before I'd finished and posted this, because maybe if I'd changed it, I wouldn't quite look like the un-original berk I am. :)

The iLamp:
1)iMacs are easier to draw than PCs.
2)I've noticed, in the last couple of years of working with Student Geeks, both male and female, that while a male geek tend to latch onto a particular platform/OS/whatever and defend it against all comers and reason until the point of death (and beyond: Reference the Amiga community ATM ;) ), female geeks tend to happily use whatever's available to the best of it's capabilities.
I'm thinking Raine definitely fits into the 'Girl Geek' category. :)
3)I like iMacs.
4)...how else was I supposed to show this was an semi-evil alternate universe?
The Goatee thing just didn't work for some reason. :)

And Raine is a nice name. Thanks to KAH for thinking of it. :)

Cuz they make them from plastic made on Mars? :D

Nah. Mars Plastic is probably the company name, and that is probably based on the Roman god of warfare (hence the little picture of the head)

Quite frankly, I think the pencil chewing adds a certain degree of sexiness to the pic (hence my post above)

No comment on the computer

Yeah, I meant PG-13. We have G, PG, M, MA and R.

That's capitalism, not enthusiasm :) Even though Canada's full of communists.

Company is in full "Steadtler Mars" (the result of a merger) and the eraser is made of a type of plastic (Vinyl)

Hey, come on now, it fits the topic nicely. And it gave me the opportunity to make a comment that silenced even Galv.

Heh again. I think that qualifies me as quite the girl again (what else is new *whack*), or not quite the geek, alternatively.

Hai-Etlik wrote:Company is in full "Steadtler Mars" (the result of a merger)
That so? I always read that as Staedtler, the company, and "Mars" their brand of products for the graphic industry.
Hai-Etlik wrote:and the eraser is made of a type of plastic (Vinyl)
Hm. The nerd in me says that it's probably closer to a polyethylene, but then I guess "Vinyl" is an equivalent to "thermoplastic material" in contemporary English.

Naw, a goatee on Ryan's female counterpart would be indicative of a purely evil alternate universe. ;)

And Raine is a nice name. Thanks to KAH for thinking of it. :)

You're welcome, and thank you for another brilliant piece of art. :)

I'm sure there was a merger, of the two, Steadtler being the dominant partner so I guess Mars is now a division within them. I'm pretty sure I heard somwhere that the formal name for the whole company is "Steadtler Mars".

Well, I've always heard them refered to as vinyl erasers, even in some brand names. Whatever it is it is definately a plastic.

'Vinyl' suggests to me PVC: polyvinyl chloride.

Notwithstanding this apparent fondness Josh has for Staedtler products, I'm here to say that the Rolls-Royce of pencils is the Faber-Castell.
