Sigh...
I guess it would be to much to expect them to talk rather than plan for Hildegarde to start a-scrappin', huh? ^_^
Actually, I now wonder why Erin is looking for him if he is supposed to be living with her...
Maybe the two ladies can form a partnership?
Wapiko-chan

Oh bugger, how I hate those Friday cliff-hangers!
...
Why have I the impression that Monday's strip (if there will be any at all!) won't be about Erin and Hildegard but about "something completely different"?

You know, I'd actually wondered, "Could she be looking for... him?" but the Seattle area code was different... of course, if he was only "visiting," then that naturally makes sense...
I bet, as mad as Gar would be at Erin, I bet she's madder at James, because Erin likely wouldn't have known he was married. It may just be my bias, but Gar's emphasis seems to suggest this, also, but we'll see...
Is this the strip you needed to have perfect, Josh?

What was her name agreed to be? Erin?
If that's the case, then poor, poor Erin. If it's any consolation to her, it's not her fault. Based on her speech, James most probably didn't tell her about Hildy.

Yes, I thought the new character was a guy too. I didn't get the "normal coffee bar" thing either, at first.
Josh, your clean comic style means we don't have things like stubble to clue us in to male/female; that leaves us with things like:

really long hair

breasts or curvy hips

skirts / earrings / other "female" clothes

dialog

to clue us in that a new character is female. The new character appeared mostly as a head at first, with Joe-length hair, so some of us didn't clue in on her femaleness right away.
Now of course I wouldn't complain if you drew all the new female characters with really long hair, obvious breasts, and jewelry... but I think in this case just having Alison say "Yes, Ma'am?" when first seeing her would have made it crystal clear for us all.
P.S. If I am not mistaken, Erin's blouse has a collar that you wouldn't expect to find on a men's shirt. But that was way too subtle for me to notice first time around.

YAY! Someone else who knows the troll is in 10 things... I thought I was the only one! But in the movie, it's covered in ivy and the bug was painted. The troll is real, it's like 2 stories high and 8 lanes wide. It rests underneath the north end of the Queen Anne bridge in seattle (highway 99) and it actually scared the crap outta a friend of mine who didn't know it was there when we were driving around looking for a specific restaurant. And by the way, Seattle is (206).
Patron Saint of Thieves

I can relate to the person above. Not to offend Josh's awsome art, but she looked a bit like a boy. But now that I know it's a female, I can see it and now I understand the move in part better. But nevertheless I like the way this comic has gone, good work. I read this comic everyday, I have it as my startup page! Lol
[This message has been edited by Willowbear (edited 03-09-2002).]

I noticed. I'd actually come to the same conclusion myself... though I had the advantage of some additional hints Josh'd dropped on IRC. It was more fun to watch people make wild-ass guesses than to lay out the evidence for them, though.
The information we had as of 3:84 ruled out all but three possibilities... either she was Mr. Page's other woman, she was a complete stranger associated with the rest of the Avalon cast only as a plot device (to motivate Alison to do something, say), or she was some person not mentioned before looking for one of the other minor characters (Todd or Patrick, possibly, or a who-cares character like Ahmed, but not Ciaran or Iain) for reasons unknown. Josh's comment on IRC that we should be able to identify her with sufficient archive-spelunking ruled out those last two possibilities.
