I was never banned from the Keenspace forums, although a lot of people have strangely said that, like you just did. Unless it just happened in the past couple weeks or so since I've been there, and I haven't posted there in years, as I recall.

You know, if you want your criticism to be taken seriously, you should consider not resorting to personal attacks to get attention.

It makes sense to me. If you make a very good point in a discussion, and then call the person you're talking to an asshat, or worse, it doesn't make your point less valid but it robs you of all credibility. People will just think you're an idiot or a troll, and then it's an uphill struggle to make yourself heard.

This is true. I can cite an example. This one. I am no longer taking any of offbeat's criticisms of our site seriously.

I also skip over most of Pupkin's posts.

The second was from the "Why does Keenspot's Webdesign Suck" thread, for those who don't know. Now, perhaps sometimes I take things too literally, but wasn't this a (recent) general warning about you (Gav) banning people for further insulting each other? Does this mean that people actually get more than one warning, that your threats lack follow throw, or that every warning should be taken to have an implied "but only if you do it in this thread" after them?

Just wondering for future reference and all...

More like, delete everything from bobby's first post on. The thread was being very good toward keenspot up to that point. Several people stepped in to say how good and useful keenspot is and many to support Howard. Bleh.

Kurtz: I like your comic and I know you said you're here to support Howard. Why not support Howard then rather than attacking Carson over something from a few years back? Carson wasn't even attacking Howard. He was attacking PA and PVP. If you want to defend PVP, that's fine. But it's not really supporting Howard.

If I'm going to defend you here, at least make your posts worthy of defense.

If it does seem that I attacked anybody, btw, I apologize for that. My original comments on Tycho and Scott were meant as criticisms of conduct, and not meant as attacks on them or their art. It was, ironically, the act of always being on the attack that I was criticizing, and it is by no means unique to them. It is a very human trait, and it is one that can be easily restrained with a bit of maturity and conscience.

As for Scott's old swipe of my art, I've never been mad about that, but his accusation of me being hypocritical seemed to warrant its mention.

Just so there's no confusion on the point, I hereby give Scott retroactive permission to trace that pinup.

I wanted there to be absolutely no confusion or claims of not seeing the original warning in the other thread. Certain people have been specifically warned via a PM.

Technically, I screwed up a bit by forgetting Pupkin specifically was warned before, but I'm not going to retrofit my warnings and actions now. We'll just say he got damn lucky on a clerical error. You don't need to take the past 100% literally, but know that those warned here will definitely be banned on the next infraction in any post.

The exception is that I told Kurtz he's allowed to insult me if he feels the need, but to lay off everyone else. That's why his subsequent post was so funny, and not bannable. At least I assume that's what he was doing.

I think almost everyone here is able to be civil to each other without the need for big blinking neon signs everywhere ordering it. There are just a few bad apples and I prefer to deal with them individually and be fair about it when I can.

I mean, at first I said it as a sort of joke but later I kinda started really believing in it. Bobby just seems too surreal and, after all, we all got to know him best from Superosity.
