I was really wondering, how does someone go about applying or auditioning or doing whatever they do to get their comic in Keenspot? I assume that not any strip would cut it, so what kind of process is there, and how do you submit a strip anyway?
Here are two strips I've been reading daily and I think deserve at least some consideration for a place in Keenspot.
1. Comic!!! (Matt Wilson)
You can see that Matt posts around Keenspot somewhat, but I haven't seen his strips given any real consideration to a proper place. May I just suggest that people who haven't take a glimpse at his work? A lot of it is very good, and he can certainly hold a story together. Some of the punchlines are funny, some are more action-oriented... It's pretty good, especially since you never know what type of storyline comes next, though you're probably gonna like it. Comic!!!
2. It's Gravy! (Matt Gardner)
Actually you probably know him too... Until a short while ago, I used to think that "It's Gravy" was a part of Keenspot (I'm not sure quite why) until I realized that it wasn't on inspection. While the beginning strips could use some rescanning, I've found that all of the strips are great, and some of them really did make me laugh out loud. The characters in paticular are great, and you really get to know them... why isn't this a Keenspot comic, anyway? (Answer: I don't know)
It's Gravy!
One more note, I'd just like to mention that one of the reasons I'm asking about submissions is because I'm beginning my own comic strip soon (delayed so far by various computer crashes, a vacation, and setting up a LAN in my house). While I'm not sure if I would pass any art test anyway (You'd have to take a look), I'm looking to submit several samples of my work to see what could happen.
Thanks a lot!
Ben, BenSpinSpace- I frankly don't care what you call me :-)
------------------

Hey, I got some recommendations as well:
DeRaptor - http://terribleclaw.com/DeRaptor/index.shtml
This comic has really good art and is always witty. Plus it's about dinosaurs and it has robots. What more do you need? I think the cartoonist is female, but I'm not sure. Keenspot needs another female cartoonist!
Fuzzy Things - http://fuzzythings.homepad.com/
Yeah, this comic is cute, but with "Look What I Brought Home", "Sinfest", and others, Keenspot needs a G rated strip to even things out. But not only is this comic cute and okay for the younger viewers, but it's also really intelligent. It just keeps getting better and better with each passing story line.
Those are my two cents. Keenspot needs a page where people can submit their comic URLs for possible inclusion. It would make scouting a lot easier.

------------------
This is my Signature... Pretty spiffy, huh?

Chris once told me on IRC that my comic would make it to Keenspot in 2049. That gives me a little hope.

All comic strip URLs sent to me or Darren will be put under consideration, but we're getting so many lately we have a very large backlog of comics to look at. If you've sent us your URL, please be patient, and don't think that we're ignoring you. We're incredibly selective with who we sign to Keenspot, so we take our time with each strip.
We're also discussing the idea of a "Keenspot Jr" for strips who we feel aren't quite Keenspot material yet, but we would still like to host. It would be sort of a training ground, and those who prove themselves there will have the chance to be upgraded to full Keenspot status later on.
I'm still working on that FAQ that was mentioned on this board earlier (been very very busy lately). I should be uploading it soon.

------------------

I is a girl! ...at least, last time I checked. I need to do that more often. Perhaps this "bathing" trend isn't such a bad idea...
Um...and...uh...Rusty says hi! He is a robot made of metal. It is weird. He does not like me.
------------------
